The 'Wemfish' Rig
This rig can be used in combination with any terminal tackle set up, its just the last few inches of the hook-link and the set up of the hook itself that is important. <><><><><><><><><><> Tie up a standard no knot hair rig, (the hair can be any length you like) on a standard type of hook, (in-turned point's and long shank hooks are not best for this rig) except bind a little over half way along the shank. Wrap lead wire or foil around the hook equally on either side of where the hair is. Cut a short length of shrink tube and make a hole half way down on one side. Pass the hair through the hole (use a baiting needle) and slide the tube on to the hook, shrink in to place with hot water (not a flame!) you will have to experiment to get the right weight for your pop ups until you can get the rig to sit on the bottom just as in the drawing. You my want to use a short line aligner, but don't make it more than half the gape or you will be defeating the object! This is by far the best anti eject rig. It works in a different way than most, with the hook sinking to the bottom of the carps mouth and with the hook point at the bottom, hooking the bottom lip if the Carp tries to blow it out or move. (most anti-eject pop up-rigs have the bait at the top and a weight at the bottom, with the hook floating about somewhere in-between, so not much chance of a hook up there). This rig will improve your catch rate over the rigs in use today but be aware that with the point on the bottom, rocks or gravel on the lake bed will blunt the point very easily, so check that point before each cast.
